Innovation's Phil Samples elected to AMSUS board

12/11/2018
Phil Samples, vice president of government and professional services at Innovation, makers of PharmASSIST pharmacy automation solutions, has been elected to the board of directors for AMSUS, the Society of Federal Health Professionals.

Samples’ term on the AMSUS board begins on Jan. 1, 2019 upon the retirement of current board member Col. James Young, retired U.S. Air Force, and former chief pharmacist for the entire Department of Defense.

“Dr. Samples has tremendous experience in the military, in pharmacy and in the pharmaceutical industry, all of which will add to the diversity and expertise of the board,” Col. Young said. “His leadership role as pharmacy consultant for the [air force] and his experience and understanding of the pharmaceutical industry has a special significance with regard to the AMSUS-SM organization and the issues we regard as vitally important to the overall organization. The AMSUS board looks forward to Phil joining and contributing to our mission.”

AMSUS is a nonprofit member based educational and professional development association serving the Department of Defense, Veterans Affairs, Health and Human Services, Department of Homeland Security, federal health professionals and their families, industry partners, and advocates for advancing health for all.

“I am honored to be asked to serve on the board of directors for AMSUS. With today’s emphasis on multidisciplinary patient care, it’s great to work with an organization that takes that to heart in their meeting structure and educational efforts,” Samples said.

Samples leads all of Innovation’s business relations with the U.S. government and oversees professional services for all industry verticals. He is a 27-year air force veteran, former pharmacy consultant at the USAF, and served as a senior advisor to the air force surgeon general. He also is a current member of the dean’s advisory council at Binghamton University School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences.
