McKesson launches online tool for indie pharmacy buyers, sellers

SAN FRANCISCO McKesson Corp. said today it will launch a new web-based tool next week for pharmacy buyers and sellers, as well as students interested in a career in independent pharmacy. The new online resource, which will be “comprehensive and confidential,” according to the drug distribution and health services giant, is being positioned as the core element of McKesson’s new RxOwnership program for independent pharmacy.

RxOwnership is a pharmacy ownership transfer program that provides independents with the information, business resources, and confidential consulting services they need to buy or sell an independent pharmacy, McKesson reported today. The website will be open to all independent pharmacy owners, regardless of whether they are McKesson customers, the company said.

Using the new online tool, pharmacy buyers and sellers will be able to request to speak with an expert ownership consultant, according to McKesson. They’ll also get help in creating a plan for buying or selling their pharmacy, access to step-by-step ownership transfer guides, information about financing options and other information.
