NACDS Foundation and partners team to fund patient safety projects

ALEXANDRIA, Va. The Department of Health and Human Services and the philanthropic wing of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores are collaborating to fund projects within the Patient Safety and Clinical Pharmacy Services Collaborative, NACDS announced Wednesday.

For its part, the NACDS Foundation is donating almost $200,000.

The goals of the collaborative are integration of clinical pharmacy services, improved patient safety and improve patient outcomes. NACDS and DHS hope to promote the integration of pharmacy services in overall patient care.

“Collaboration among all healthcare providers is imperative in improving patient health outcomes,” NACDS Foundation president Phil Schneider said in a statement. “Pharmacies are a vital link in the healthcare system, and incorporating their patient care services into collaborative teams among all health professionals is a must.”
