PALM BEACH, Fla. At the National Association of Chain Drug Stores annual meeting yesterday, the association honored two men for their achievements in the industry.

Retired Walgreens chairman—and outgoing NACDS chairman—David Bernauer was honored with the Sheldon W. Fantle Lifetime Achievement Award and former Walgreens executive vice president of marketing Vernon Brunner was honored with the Robert B. Begley Award.

The Fantle Award was established in 1989 to recognize exceptional accomplishments and contributions to the industry. The Begley Award honors an individual who possesses qualities of great personal warmth, generous spirit, and long-time service to the industry.

“Dave and Vern exemplify the highest levels of dedication and commitment to our industry and NACDS is proud to honor each of them with the Begley and Fantle Awards, respectively,” said NACDS president and chief executive officer, Steve Anderson.
