NASCAR's Carl Edwards signs endorsement deal with Claritin

2/1/2008

KENILWORTH, N.J. Schering-Plough has signed a sponsorship deal with NASCAR star Carl Edwards, under which the company’s over-the-counter non-drowsy allergy medication Claritin will appear on Edwards’ uniform and No. 99 car throughout the 2008 Sprint Cup racing season.

Edwards, who suffers allergies himself, will be featured in a new advertising campaign for Claritin and will serve as a spokesman of the Claritin “Clear to Drive” campaign. Edwards will also record a radio announcement to educate consumers about the dangers of drowsy driving.

“Claritin is proud to sponsor Carl Edwards as he pursues the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship,” said TJ Higgins, group vice president, marketing, Schering-Plough Consumer Healthcare. “Nobody knows better than Carl how important it is to be alert and focused while driving. Like Carl, millions of allergy sufferers nationwide choose Claritin for effective relief from indoor and outdoor allergies without drowsiness.”
