Navarro Discount Pharmacies promotes two pharmacy executives

MIAMI A Hispanic-owned pharmacy chain has strengthened its pharmacy team with the promotion of two executives.

Jose Alvarez and Angel Colls have been promoted to VP merchandising and category management director, respectively. Alvarez -- who has more than 10 years of broad-based management experience -- previously served as VP and corporate controller, a position he held since March 2007. Colls formerly served as district manager, supervising store operations and category operations. He joined Navarro in 2001 after the chain acquired FEDCO, where he served as district manager purchasing and operations.

“Together, Jose Alvarez and Angel Colls will develop a targeted merchandising strategy for existing store growth and new store expansion,” said Steve Kaczynski, Navarro’s CEO. “Along with the pharmacy leadership team, they will examine current pricing, associate development and training as well as focus on the customer experience and understanding the way that Navarro customers shop.”
