NCPA hosts specialty Rx forum

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — To help independent pharmacy owners better understand the fast-growing, uber-complex specialty pharmacy business, the National Community Pharmacists Association last month hosted a day-long forum, “Exploring the intersection of specialty medications, community pharmacy and patient care.”



Among the day’s many highlights, Dan Mendelson, CEO of Avalere Health, outlined four key considerations for independents: the clinical value that community pharmacy delivers beyond filling prescriptions; the need to focus on disease states that benefit health plan, patient and pharmacy; leveraging local provider relationships; and the critical need for data collection.
