Oramed says investigational diabetes pill is safe
JERUSALEM An investigational Type 2 diabetes pill is safe, according to results of a mid-stage clinical trial released Thursday.
Oramed Pharmaceuticals said the phase 2b trial of the oral insulin capsule ORMD-0801 showed the drug to be safe and well-tolerated, and patients taking it had better results than those taking placebo. The trial, which the Food and Drug Administration did not oversee, involved 29 patients in South Africa.
“This study, as well as data from our earlier studies, suggests that Oramed’s technology is an effective and well-tolerated delivery platform that will potentially make a significant clinical impact on diabetes management,” Oramed CEO Nadav Kidron said.
