VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Paramount Rx’s Hampton Roads prescription discount cards have already saved a lot of money since launching earlier this year, the company reported Thursday. The discount program that’s free to join for the Hampton Roads community has reportedly saved members more than $500,000 this year.
“Reaching the $500,000 milestone in member savings really validates the mission we set out to accomplish with the Hampton Roads Rx discount program, providing a valuable resource in response to the rising cost of prescription medications,” Paramount Rx EVP Michael Sallusto said. “We are extremely happy that local residents are reaping the benefits of this program and look forward to passing on the savings to more folks in the area.”
Those who sign up for the program can print a Hampton Roads Rx discount card and present it at local pharmacies, potentially saving as much as 70% on generic prescriptions and 20% on branded ones. The discount program’s website provides members online tools for finding participating pharmacies, as well as drug prices and availability. The program is valuable for underinsured and uninsured patients, or those with high co-pays and deductibles, Paramount Rx said.
“At a time when many local residents are struggling with higher health care costs, the Hampton Roads Rx discount program provides much relief on their budget,” said Ray Hernandez, pharmacy district manager at preferred provider Farm Fresh Food & Pharmacy. “We’re proud to be a part of the program and remain committed to the local community, providing resources for residents to save money and gain more access to important medical prescriptions.”
