Pharmacy group holds rally in NYC to protest Medicaid cuts

NEW YORK The coalition group Protect Pharmacy Patients held a rally yesterday in Murray Hill to protest the state’s pending Medicaid cuts, according to NY1.

The group said that the cuts would have a devastating effect on the lives of their patients, cutting off access to vital services like home delivery to those who need it most. “Many pharmacies in New York will be forced to reduce staffing, reduce hours, reduce services that we provide our patients, and possibly close their doors,” said Donald Cantalino of the Pharmacist Society of the State of New York. “This a no-win for the patient, it’s a no-win for the pharmacist, it’s a no-win situation for the healthcare system in New York.”

The group says the state budget cuts will result in a $50 million loss in reimbursement revenues and that pharmacists want the cuts repealed before they go into effect on July 1.
