Premera Blue Cross introduces online generics information

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash. Premera Blue Cross, in continuing to teach its members about the benefits of taking generic drugs has introduced My Rx Choices, an online tool made available by Medco Health Solutions.

The program shows members a simple personalized menu of medications that are at a lower cost alternative to their current medication, whether in a generic or preferred brand name form.

Premera is hoping this program will be as successful as its "Generics Yes!" program, that was released in 2003 and since then, has seen its members go from filling 47 percent of its prescriptions generic annually to an industry leading 62.5 percent.

Premera is promoting the new program by stating that, "A mouse click could mean annual savings of $350 for Premera members."
