Presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin to address NACDS Annual Meeting
Renowned presidential historian, Doris Kearns Goodwin is slated to address the National Association of Chain Drugs Stores’ annual meeting in Palm Beach, Fla. on April 28.
“Having just experienced the exceptionally moving reflection of President George H.W. Bush’s life, it is particularly timely that we are announcing that Doris Kearns Goodwin will join us at the NACDS Annual Meeting. Americans are fascinated by the presidency, and by insights about the humanity and leadership of those who hold the office. Doris Kearns Goodwin is known as the person uniquely capable of making their lives and their legacies accessible to all,” NACDS president and CEO Steve Anderson said.
Goodwin is expected to share takeaways from her book, “Leadership in Turbulent Times.” Published in September 2018, this book, which is her seventh, presents a road map for aspiring and established leaders based on her five decades of studying U.S. presidents.
Among her other works that have led to acclaim and popularity is the book “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln,” which served as the basis for Steven Spielberg’s film “Lincoln.”
Goodwin has contributed insights on other topics of national interest, including baseball. She appeared in Ken Burns’ documentary “The History of Baseball,” and in 1979 she was the first woman to enter the Boston Red Sox locker room.
