Rite Aid posts same-store sales increase

CAMP HILL, Pa. Rite Aid on Thursday posted a same-store sales increase of 1% for the four weeks ending Jan. 24. Front-end same-store sales decreased 0.1% while pharmacy same-store sales, which included an approximate 281 basis point negative impact from new generic introductions, were up 1.5%.

Same-store sales excluding the acquired Brooks Eckerd stores, increased 2.1% over the prior-year period with front-end same-store sales increasing 0.1% and pharmacy same-store sales increasing 3.1%.

Same-store sales at the acquired Brooks Eckerd stores declined 1.1% over the prior-year period with front-end same-store sales decreasing 0.6% and pharmacy same store sales decreasing 1.3%.

Total drug store sales for the four-week period decreased 0.9% to $2 billion. Prescription revenue accounted for 69.3% of drug store sales, and third party prescription revenue represented 96.0% of pharmacy sales.
