Safeway launches free antibiotics program in Eastern states
NEW YORK Customers at Safeway stores in the District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania can obtain free antibiotics through March 31.
The supermarket chain will offer 14-day supplies of such generic antibiotics as penicillin and amoxicillin to customers, as well as the blood-pressure drug atenolol.
Several retailers have offered similar programs in recent weeks, including Giant Food and Wegmans Food Markets. Safeway also offers supplies of generic drugs for $4 at several of its pharmacies.
