Sam's Club celebrates American Pharmacists Month

10/4/2010

BENTONVILLE, Ark. Sam's Club pharmacies are saluting pharmacists across the nation with an awareness campaign in line with American Pharmacists Month.

Through its campaign, Sam's Club is offering free prescription check-ups for customers -- patient consultations with a pharmacist to review their medications -- during regular pharmacy hours, no appointment necessary.

The free prescription check-up includes:

  • Advice on how to take medications to maximize effectiveness, including when and how to use them, whether they should be taken with food and what side effects may occur; and
  • Comprehensive assessment of all prescription medications to determine possible interactions, no matter where the prescriptions were filled by the customer.

The campaign will continue through Oct. 31.

"At Sam's Club, we believe that our pharmacists play an integral part of a patient's medical team," said Jill Turner-Mitchael, Sam's Club SVP health and wellness. "Free prescription check-ups are a service that we provide year-round, but many customers may not be aware that this service is available to them -- that is why we are launching this awareness campaign during American Pharmacists Month."
