Sandoz launches hypertension generic
PRINCETON, N.J. Sandoz has launched an authorized generic version of a hypertension drug, the generic drug maker announced Wednesday.
The company launched metoprolol tartrate and hydrochlorothiazide tablets, an authorized generic of Novartis’ Lopressor HCT and will market the drug in the 50-mg/25-mg and 100-mg/25-mg strengths. Novartis owns Sandoz and operates it as its generics subsidiary.
Branded and generic versions of Lopressor HCT had sales of $13.6 million during the 12-month period that ended in September, according to IMS Health.
