Second class of PQA-CVS Health Foundation Scholars announced

8/16/2017

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Pharmacy Quality Alliance and the CVS Health Foundation have announced the 2017-2018 PQA-CVS Health Foundation Scholars as the program enters its  second year. The program is aimed at fostering student engagement in performance measurement and quality improvement.

Under the program, student pharmacists, supported by a mentor, will work to execute and implement their unique quality-based project concept they were required to submit as part of their applications. The scholars will present their work at the 2018 PQA Annual Meeting poster session.

"It is exciting to see how the interest in the PQA-CVS Health Foundation Scholars Program has grown between the first and second year," PQA associate director for education and communications Hannah Fish said. "Many high-caliber students applied for the program and we look forward to the scholars' growth in their understanding of the changing quality and performance-based landscape over the next year. Through our partnership with the CVS Health Foundation we are able to provide this unique opportunity to educate the future generation of quality-minded professionals.”

The scholarship program also has the goal of supporting students and recognizing excellence in projects centered on quality-related initiatives, improving education around quality measures and value-based care models and fostering interest and engagement in developing quality-related initiatives among students. It provides a scholarship for scholars to attend the PQA Leadership Summit in November, as well as the PQA Annual Meeting.
