Spartan Stores signs purchasing agreement with Pharmacy Services Inc.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. A supermarket chain in Michigan said it has signed a purchasing agreement with Pharmacy Services Inc. to maximize its purchasing power for independent pharmacies based in the state.
Spartan Stores, which operates 100 supermarkets in Michigan, said the agreement with PSI allows additional volume buying support through a contract with The Harvard Drug Group, based in Livonia, Mich., keeping dollars in the state.
“Spartan stores is pleased to combine our purchasing advantage with PSI’s and thereby promote growth, profitability and development of new independent pharmacy businesses by offering pricing that is competitive based on volume purchasing,” Spartan Stores director of pharmacy Eddie Garcia said.
