Study suggests premixed insulin offers tighter glycemic control
NEW YORK A study published in the Sept. 16 issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine has found that premixed insulin provides better blood-sugar control than long-acting insulin or oral medications.
Patients using long-acting insulin take one shot and then four short-acting injections for meals every 24 hours. With premixed insulin, however, they need only take one injection before breakfast and one before dinner.
Premixed insulin is a combination of long- and short-acting insulin.
