Supervalu Pharmacies plans to offer fall vaccinations

FRANKLIN PARK, Ill. Supervalu Pharmacies today announced its preparations to offer flu immunizations this fall.

Starting Sunday, Sept. 28, Supervalu pharmacists will begin administering traditional flu vaccinations as well as FluMist nasal spray. Flu vaccinations will be available by appointment or walk-in at most Supervalu pharmacy locations, including locations at Acme Sav-on, Albertsons Sav-on, Cub Pharmacy, Farm Fresh, Jewel-Osco Pharmacy and other Supervalu pharmacy stores, the company said. Supervalu will also offer flu shot clinics on Nov. 1.

The Centers for Disease control has released data that shows that the flu causes around 226,000 hospitalizations and about 36,000 deaths on average per year.
