Taro’s Keveyis now available through Diplomat Pharmacy

9/22/2015

HAWTHORNE, N.Y. — Taro Pharmaceutical Inustries announced Tuesday that its new drug Keveyis (dichlorphenamide) 50-mg tablets were now available through Diplomat Pharmacy, the drug’s exclusive distributor.

Keveyis was recently approved for the treatment of primary hyperkalemic and hypokalemic periodic paralysis, a group of rare hereditary disorders that cause episodes of muscle weakness or paralysis. Keveyis is the first medicine approved by the FDA for the treatment of primary periodic paralysis, which is estimated to affect approximately 5,000 people in the United States.

Diplomat Pharmacy will also be part of Taro’s Keys2Care patient support program, which has the goal of reducing out-of-pocket cost for patients prescribed Keveyis. Some patients can receive the medication at no cost while waiting for insurance approvals, and those without insurance could also receive it for no cost while a Diplomat representative tries to secure assistance. Diplomat representatives will also try to help find co-pay support for some patients.
