Thrifty White chooses PrescribeWellness to drive outcomes

6/5/2018
Thrifty White’s pharmacies will soon be powered by PrescribeWellness’ technology. The Plymouth, Minn.-based chain will use PrescribeWellness’ platform to offer clinical services, enhance patients’ experiences and offer comprehensive patient engagement and support services — all with the goal of improved outcomes, the companies said.

“As outcomes become more important, those best able to engage with the patient will win,” said Bob Narveson, president and CEO of Thrifty White, which has more than 100 stores in six states. “We made the choice in 2012 to focus on driving quality outcomes and creating a better pharmacy experience versus being fast and cheap. Our PrescribeWellness partnership will advance this vision, enabling us to seamlessly provide high-touch healthcare in the community and remain a trusted member of the healthcare team.”

Irvine, Calif.-based PrescribeWellness’ PrescribeCareplatform is meant to make pharmacist interventions easier and support chronic care management. It offers a single view of each patient, as well as their medication regimen and engagement suggestions. PrescribeWellness said it would allow Thrifty White to sync patients’ medications and offer immunizations, health screenings, disease-state management, medication therapy management and other services.

The platform also includes collaborative practice agreement contracting, clinical guidelines support, billing support for pharmacist medical services, electronic health record connectivity, workflow optimization and other features.

“There is an explosion of chronic disease in this country, and community pharmacies play a critical role in battling it and improving the health of Americans,” said Al Babbington, CEO of PrescribeWellness. “Thrifty White was an early adopter of the patient-centric approach, and we are pleased to provide them with the tools they need to more effectively treat their patients, achieve better outcomes and get paid for the valuable work they do.”
