LAS VEGAS — The common saying goes what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas — but that’s not true if you’re coming back from Good Neighbor Pharmacy’s ThoughtSpot 2015 annual meeting. For them, what happened this year in Vegas will help enhance their pharmacy operations for years to come. Drug Store News, with the help of AmerisourceBergen’s top brass, identified the three ThoughtSpot takeaways Good Neighbor Pharmacy owners will be implementing on the Monday they’re back from the show.



First, there is the Elevate Provider Network. It will serve as the new cornerstone for not only the Good Neighbor Pharmacy franchise network, but to all independents who sign up for that network. Improved reimbursement for independent pharmacists will be a key outcome of that program as they realize the benefits of pre- and post-edits and reconciliation services.



Second, there is Good Neighbor Pharmacy’s Premier offering — no longer are pharmacies restricted from this program because of the pharmacy system they have running in their stores. The biggest piece of this is the business coaching feature, which can really help boost performance in an area of the store with better margins and a lot of upside for independents. Historically, the front-end to back-bench ratio across independents has been 95% prescription and 5% front-end. That has to change, and this will help.



Finally, the new patient adherence tools through PrescribeWellness will be something Good Neighbor Pharmacy pharmacists and independents partnered with AmerisourceBergen will want to take advantage of. Boosting adherence measures and enhancing patient care will not only improve CMS Star ratings and increase reimbursement, but also set the stage for success in the future.



Added heft and scale, analytics to optimize the performance of the pharmacy operation and tools to drive improved patient care well into the future — together these three takeaways represent the positive momentum generated by ThoughtSpot 2015 at the MGM Grand, where what happens in Vegas may actually set a new standard as to how successful independent pharmacy operations are managed.
