Update: Pager, Zipdrug partnership puts docs, meds on demand
NEW YORK — Health care just got a whole lot more convenient in Manhattan, where a pair of health app developers on Wednesday began coupling their offerings in what may become the ultimate in fast service — doctors to your door by way of Pager quickly followed by an on-demand prescription delivery from Zipdrug.
“Pager is making healthcare more convenient,”app developers shared with smartphone users in an email blast Wednesday. “So now, if you receive a prescription during your Pager visit, Zipdrug will deliver the medication at no additional charge. The cost of the medication will be added to your bill in one simple transaction.”
Pager was launched in 2014 in New York City as a healthcare startup reinventing the traditional doctor-patient experience. The app's on-demand service connects patients to board-certified doctors who make home, office or hotel visits within two hours. No more sitting in crowded waiting rooms.
Zipdrug, meanwhile, employs a trained delivery staff who picks up prescriptions at the pharmacy of the patient's choice and delivers them to the patient's doorstep. The app can even collect the co-payment, no problem. No more waiting for prescriptions to be filled.
Currently the combined service is available only in Manhattan. The team at Zipdrug plan to soon expand beyond Manhattan according to the app's web site.
