Upsher-Smith introduces reformulated PreNexa

2/2/2010

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. Upsher-Smith has launched a new formulation of its PreNexa prescription prenatal vitamins, the drug maker announced Tuesday.

The new formulation of the vitamins increases from 265-mg to 300-mg the amount of docosahexaenoic acid, or DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid that supports fetal and infant brain and eye development. The capsules’ vitamin D content has been increased from 170 international units to 400.

“PreNexa is the fastest-growing, single-capsule prenatal vitamin with plant-based DHA on the market,” Upsher-Smith senior director for medical affairs Wesley Todd said. “This new formulation reflects the increasing body of evidence pointing to the important role DHA and vitamin D play in pregnancy, lactation and infancy.”
