Valeant partners with National Coalition Against Domestic Violence

10/2/2013

LAVAL, Quebec — Drug maker Valeant Pharmaceuticals International is joining an effort to oppose domestic violence, the company said Wednesday.

Valeant announced that it had formed a partnership with the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence to help raise awareness of the problem, with plans to donate a portion of sales from Medicis and Obagi products to the organization.

"Domestic violence is an issue that affects us all, and in particular, the number of women impacted every day is staggering," chairman and CEO J. Michael Pearson said. "This partnership provides a platform for us to partner with all stakeholders in the industry, from our employees to the medical community to the consumers who use our products, in the battle to end domestic violence. We are excited about the long-term prospects to improve the lives of women through this initiative."
