Verizon offers medical information, reminders with Pill Phone

4/22/2008

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. Verizon Wireless and Vocel, a publisher of branded mobile phone applications have announced the availability of The Pill Phone, a new feature offered by the wireless company on its phones for customers who have access to the Get It Now application on their cellphone.

The Pill Phone is based on the medication reference guide The Pill Book, which offers detailed drug information. The phone application, though, will also offer automatic dosing reminders, which will allow customers to schedule automatic reminders of when to take their medication. The feature will also have information on more than 1,800 medications and prescription drugs.

“The Pill Phone helps our customers leverage technology to manage their health by providing educational information and dosage reminders,” said Mark Bartolomeo, vice president of enterprise data sales for Verizon Wireless. “Our health and wellness conscious customers want to be able to access important health information and The Pill Phone can serve as a valuable resource to help them access this information while on-the-go.”

The feature will be available as part of a monthly subscription and the companies offer more information including a demo at the website www.pillphone.com.
