Walgreens DC initiates new RFID system
NEW YORK A Walgreens distribution center in Anderson, S.C., has set up an RFID system to prevent paperwork and shipment errors.
Blue Vector, an RFID company based in Palo Alto, Calif., provided the system, which will send out automatic advance shipment notices for products as they leave the distribution center.
The system comprises 45 RFID portals at dock doors, several dollies and almost 200,000 totes with EPC Gen 2 RFID tags. Walgreens plans to install a similar system at its distribution center in Windsor, Conn.
