Western N.Y. supermarket chain expands generic drug discounts
NEW YORK A supermarket chain in western New York has become the latest to expand discounts on generic drugs, according to published reports.
Tops Friendly Markets will offer 30-day supplies of generic drugs for $3.99 at its 64 stores that operate pharmacies, following a pilot program around Rochester, N.Y.
Retail pharmacy, supermarket and mass-merchandising chains across the country have been rolling out similar programs since Walmart and Kmart started the trend in 2006.
