Zydus Cadila has received the Food and Drug Administration's clearance for leflunomide tablets in 10 mg and 20 mg dosage strengths.
The product is the generic of Sanofi’s Arava, and is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, which is a condition affecting multiple small and large joints of the body.
Leflunomide belongs to a class of medications called disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs. It helps to reduce the joint damage/pain/swelling and helps in better joint movement, the company said.
The drug will be manufactured at the group’s formulations manufacturing facility at Baddi.
