Zydus’ Nesher Pharmaceuticals gets FDA nod for generic Lovaza
Zydus’ Nesher Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Zydus Pharmaceuticals has received the Food and Drug Administration's blessing for Omega-3-acid ethyl esters capsules.
The product is the generic of GlaxoSmithKline's Lovaza.
Omega-3 acid ethyl esters, a type of fat found in fish oil, is used along with diet and exercise to help lower levels of a certain blood fat, or triglyceride. It may also raise good cholesterol, or HDL.
The drug will be manufactured at Nesher's manufacturing facility located in St. Louis, Mo.
