Publix to begin administering COVID-19 vaccines in Georgia

Publix is working to ensure eligible residents in Georgia will be able to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Lakeland, Fla.-based retailer announced that it is working with the state and Gov. Brian Kemp on distributing the vaccine across 108 of its pharmacies.

Obtained by appointment, the vaccine at the moment will only be given to first responders, healthcare workers, those age 65 years old and older and their caregivers, as well as residents and staff of long-term care facilities.

“At Publix, we know how important it is to be there, especially in times of need,” Publix CEO Todd Jones said. “We are grateful for the opportunity to provide this critical service to the Georgia community.”

Appointments, which can be made using the online reservation system on Publix’s website, Jan. 15.

Vaccinations will only be given to eligible individuals, while supplies last at no cost to the individual, the company said.
