Publix crowned top spot on People’s Companies that Care list

9/4/2020

Several retailers have been recognized for succeeding in business while also showing outstanding respect, care and concern for their employees, their communities and the environment – especially during the pandemic.

Publix took the top spot in People magazine’s fourth annual 50 Companies that Care ranking. The other retailers on the list were Wegman’s Food Markets (No. 5), Target (No.12), CoverMyMeds (No. 25), Abbvie (No. 48), as well as Mars, the only CPG company on the list, (No.37). In compiling the list, People teamed up with Great Place to Work to produce the ranking using the workplace analytic firm's extensive database and knowledge of outstanding workplaces around the globe. The rankings are based on surveys representing more than 4.8 million employees’ experiences of how their workplaces have made a difference in their lives and in their communities. Rankings also reflect Great Place to Work's assessment of the generosity of each.

“Being recognized as the top company on the People’s 50 Companies that Care list is an honor,” said Publix CEO Todd Jones. “When the first Publix store opened 90 years ago, our founder, George Jenkins, instilled a set of values that still guide us today. Our philosophy has always been to respect the dignity of our associates, treat our customers like royalty and give back to our communities.”
