Publix distributes next batch of COVID-19 vaccines to 325 Florida pharmacies
A new distribution of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is coming to Florida.
Publix announced that several of its pharmacies in the Sunshine State will receive the vaccine, and as a result appointment scheduling will once again commence.
Through this partnership with the state of Florida, as well as its Nassau, Paco and Pinellas counties, the total number of locations giving out vaccines is now 325 in 23 counties, the Lakeland, Fla.-based company said.
“We understand how many people in our communities want to receive this critical vaccine, and it is our privilege to administer doses to the residents of Florida,” Publix CEO Todd Jones said. “With each distribution, we remain grateful for the role we are able to play in helping protect the health and safety of as many people in our communities as possible.”
Eligibility for the new batch of vaccines includes those who are age 65 years old and older, and proof of residency must be provided upon receiving the first dose, the company said.
Publix Pharmacy will administer the vaccine, while supplies last, in the following counties: Bay, Brevard, Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, Escambia, Flagler, Hernando, Indian River, Lee, Marion, Martin, Monroe, Nassau, Okaloosa, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, St. Johns, St. Lucie, Santa Rosa, Volusia and Walton.
In addition, 22 stores in Citrus, Hernando and Marion counties will only administer the vaccine to those who are returning for their prescheduled appointments to receive their second dose from Feb. 4 to 7.
