Publix raises more than $160K for American Red Cross
Publix is donating a hefty amount to the American Red Cross’ disaster relief efforts.
The retailer announced that through its register donation campaign, more than $160,000 was collected to support the organization’s spring tornado and flood relief efforts.
“When disaster strikes, our customers and associates look for ways to help our communities recover,” Publix director of community relations, Dwaine Stevens said. “We’re grateful for their incredible generosity and support during these difficult times.”
In addition to what was collected, the Lakeland, Fla.-based company is also donating an additional $100,000 through its Super Market Charities to local United Ways and the American Red Cross as a way to support additional relief efforts for those impacted by the storms.
“The destruction left behind by these storms is devastating,” American Red Cross regional executive, Eric Corliss said. “The support provided by Publix customers and associates, as well as the donation from Publix Super Markets Charities, will help those affected begin the long journey of recovery.”
