Publix to support disaster relief efforts in Tennessee

3/5/2020

After the recent traumatic events in Tennessee, Publix is looking to do its part to aid those who were impacted by the deadly tornadoes.

The Lakeland, Fla.-based retailer announced that it will launch a program that allows customers and associates at its stores to donate funds.

By adding any amount to their grocery totals when checking out, donations collected will be channeled through the American Red Cross and designated specifically for the Southern Tornadoes and Floods relief, the retailer said.

“Our customers trust us to provide a way for them to donate to help their neighbors in need,” Publix director of communications Maria Brous said. “It is our privilege to support our communities when disaster strikes.”

In addition, Publix will donate $100,000 to the American Red Cross and United Way to support relief efforts for the affected areas through its Super Market Charities.

An end date for the donation program will be determined by customer response, the company said.
