Publix’s Florida pharmacies adhering to expanded COVID-19 vaccine age limit

Florida residents who are age 18 years old and older are now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine at Publix.

The retailer announced that its pharmacies will distribute vaccines to those who fall into the category at participating locations within the state.

Appointments for this newly expanded age group will begin on April 6.

Although the state has opened eligibility to residents who are age 16 years old and older, Publix will only be administering vaccines to those ages 18 years old and older, as the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are only authorized for those above the age of 18 years old, the Lakeland, Fla.-based retailer said.

Currently, the COVID-19 vaccine is available at all 43 Florida counties, as well as in select Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia Publix locations.
