BJ’s Wholesale Club donates $100K to Forgotten Harvest
‘Tis the season of giving.
BJ’s Wholesale Club is doing its part this holiday season by donating $100,000 to Forgotten Harvest, a Feeding America member food bank.
The donation will enable the organization to provide and distribute more than 400,000 meals to those in need across the Metro Detroit area.
“BJ’s is deeply committed to making a positive difference in the communities in which we live and work,” Kirk Saville, executive director of BJ’s Charitable Foundation, said. “We’re proud to support Forgotten Harvest in its mission to end hunger in Southeastern Michigan, and BJ’s is grateful for the opportunity to serve Metro Detroit families.”
Founded in 1990, Forgotten Harvest delivers 138,000 pounds of surplus food daily to more than 260 local charities six days per week, the company said. The charities then distribute the food free of charge to those in need in the Macomb, Oakland and Wayne Counties.

That’s why we’re extremely grateful to BJ’s for [its] commitment to help end hunger and reduce food waste, not only to those in need throughout Metro Detroit but across all communities BJ’s serve."
This news comes on the heels of BJ’s previously announcing that it will open two clubs in the Detroit area in 2019.
