Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) on Thursday named the first-floor welcome desk at its King of Prussia Specialty Care and Surgery Center the “Giant Check In Desk" following a gift of $570,000 from Giant Food Stores.
The Giant Check In Desk at the King of Prussia Specialty Care and Surgery Center will welcome 29,000 patients a year.
“We are thankful and fortunate to be included in the daily lives of our customers, and we hope this gift will bring hope, care and healing for children and families who have encountered difficult times,” said Nicholas Bertram, president of the Carlisle, Pa.-based grocer. “I want to thank all of our associates, customers, and vendors who have helped us over the years in support of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.”
Giant Food Stores’ gift will enhance the patient and family experience at all three CHOP urgent care sites, including King of Prussia, Brandywine and Chalfont. Each center will be equipped with upgraded entertainment and educational technology and supplied with free, healthy snacks. The urgent care locations will also be able to implement other enhancements as needed.
“We are so thankful for Giant's continued commitment to our Hospital and our patient families,” Madeline Bell, president and CEO of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, said. “CHOP aims to provide families with exactly what they need, at each moment in their medical journey. The Giant donation will allow CHOP urgent care sites to expand their service offerings for patients, siblings and caregivers during unplanned medical visits."
The donation is part of Giant Food Store’s 95th anniversary celebration.
