HRG rolls out annual TEMPS category manager enhancements

Hamacher Resource Group has unveiled a number of enhancements to its monthly category management program for independent pharmacies.

The Waukesha, Wis.-based firm has revamped several areas of its TEMPS program, including Category Strategy, which offers an overview of trends and changes in the category, as well as Never Outs, Priority Listing and New Item Alert pieces. Never Outs are products within a subcategory that HRG analysts determine always should be on shelves.

Never Outs, as well as the Priority List of the products, now contain barcodes for each product, allowing operators to scan the barcode to order from distributors. TEMPS’ New Item Alert highlights new items that have earned an HRG star, and now also includes barcodes for easy ordering.

“Since TEMPS was first introduced nearly 40 years ago, we have annually reviewed the program because the market varies and needs change, so we take all of that into consideration and see where we can improve usability and the impact for our customers,” said Tom Boyer, HRG director of national accounts said. “One of the goals of our TEMPS program is to help independent pharmacies keep their assortment fresh and their customers engaged, and because we realize time is at a premium for these stores, we want to do what we can to improve the speed of implementation for staff. The enhancements we have made this year will offer significant efficiencies and productivity gains for them as they execute our monthly category merchandising updates.”
