Publix donates $250K to Hurricane Michael relief efforts
Publix is doing its part to help those who have been affected by Hurricane Michael.
The Lakeland, Fla.-based company announced that it would be making an initial $250,000 donation to the American Red Cross and United Way to help fund relief efforts to the areas that have been hit hardest by the storm.
In addition, the retailer will once again offer customers and associates a direct way to assist those who have been affected by donating any amount desired and having it added to their grocery totals at checkout.
“Our communities are part of the Publix family,” Maria Brous, director of media and community relations at Publix, said. “It’s our privilege to support disaster recovery efforts, and donations to the American Red Cross help us reach those in need.”
Publix previously ran this program when assisting with relief efforts for Hurricane Florence. Funds collected will be donated to the American Red Cross in support of Hurricane Michael relief efforts, the company said.
