Publix has added new members to its board, and also announced that several would be retiring.
The Lakeland, Fla.-based company announced that Jennifer Jenkins was elected to its board of directors, and Barney Barnett was named the new vice chairman emeritus.
In addition, Barney Barnett, Jane Finley and Charlie Jenkins Jr., announced that they would be retiring from the retailer's board.
“I’m excited to have Jennifer join the Publix family. She will be a valuable addition to our board,” Publix chairman of the board, Ed Crenshaw said.
Jenkins is a clinical professor of law and director of the Center for the Study of the Public Domain at Duke University Law School. She has been part of the university’s staff since 2002. Prior to that she served as a legal associate at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton from 2000 to 2002 and received her Juris Doctor degree from Duke University Law School in 1997, the company said.
Barnett has served on Publix’s board for 34 years, Finley for 10 years, and Jenkins Jr. for 45 years.
“Our retiring board members have served with unselfish dedication,” Crenshaw said. “Their efforts have contributed substantially to our growth, success and reputation, and I thank them for their commitment through the years.”
