Publix is continuing to expand its GreenWise Market footprint.
The Lakeland, Fla.-based retailer announced that an 11th location of the concept market will open in the Water Street Tampa development of Tampa, Fl.’s Channelside area.
In addition, the current GreenWise Market on West Azeele Street in Tampa’s Hyde Park neighborhood is to be converted into a traditional Publix supermarket during the store’s planned remodel, the company said.
“We look forward to sharing our new-concept GreenWise Market with our Tampa customers,” Publix president, Kevin Murphy said. “Once they discover the unique products, atmosphere and prepared meals they can eat in the store or take with them as they enjoy the waterfront, they’ll see why we chose to go in a new direction with a brand they know and trust.”
Also featured in the Channelside district will be a traditional Publix supermarket, which is slated to open in August while the GreenWise Market has a late 2021 opening date scheduled.
The retailer’s concept market is to contain specialty, natural and organic items, and a prepared foods area with such items as gourmet pizzas, burrito bowls and wraps made with organic meats and cheeses, vegan options, smoked meats, organic sausages and gourmet popcorn, among other products.
