Publix makes Fortune's Best Companies to Work For list
Publix has made Fortune’s list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For.
The Lakeland, Fla.-based company came in at No. 12, rising several spots from last year’s ranking, where it came in at No. 47.
“It is an honor to be recognized as a great place to work,” Publix's CEO, Todd Jones said. “Our associates contribute to Publix’s success every day, and I couldn’t be prouder of the legacy we’re continuing to build.”
In addition, Publix also came in at No. 1 on Fortune’s Best Big Companies to Work for List, which only featured seven companies with more than 100,000 employees.
“These companies lead the marketplace by demonstrating how to respect and develop the full diversity of their people in a way that drives business success and helps local communities thrive,” CEO of Great Place to Work, Michael C. Bush said.
To determine its ranking, companies are scores are determined by a survey that is sent at random to employees where questions related to their workplace, including the honesty and quality of communication by managers, the degree of support for employees personal and professional lives and authenticity of relationships with colleagues are asked.
Another aspect that goes into determining a ranking is based on the company’s response to the Culture and Audit questionnaire, which asks about pay and benefits programs, hiring, communication and diversity.
