Publix has announced that a longtime company veteran is set to depart.
The Lakeland, Fla.-based company’s vice president of manufacturing, Jeff Stephens will retire, effective May 1, 2019.
Stephens joined the retailer in 1980 as a rail dock associate and was promoted to a lab technician in the dairy plant in 1983. Afterward, he climbed the ranks to be appointed quality control manager in 1988, general manager of the dairy plant in 2000, director of fresh product marketing in 2005 and director of manufacturing operations in 2010, the company said.
“Jeff’s philosophy is to leave things better than you found them,” Publix CEO Todd Jones said. “I’m thankful he has done just that. Whether through his dedication to his associates or the products they produce, Jeff has been a great example of what it means to be Publix.”
Stephens looks forward to spending more time with his wife and their family, and also remain involved in mission work, the company said.
