Publix opens Alabama GreenWise Market
Publix’s GreenWise Market is continuing to expand.
The Lakeland, Fla.-based retailer announced that the banner’s newest location has opened in Mountain Brook, Ala., in a former Western Market location.
“While the location of our GreenWise Market is familiar to the residents of Mountain Brook, we believe they will be pleasantly surprised by the changes we have made,” Publix president Kevin Murphy, said. “We look forward to sharing the GreenWise experience and helping our customers discover unique and trendy products.”
GreenWise Markets are a specialty, natural and organic store that contain a curated selection of unique, local and organic items. Such finds within the store include in-house smoked meats, in-house made sausages, fresh-popped kettle corn, a large selection of grab-and-go and ready-to-eat meal options, and a seating area.
Shoppers can also find a Pours department that sells coffee, tea, smoothies or kombucha that can be carried while shopping, the Finds department that sells samples of select beer and wine, and a large-scale photographic mural by local artist Jamie Carnathan.
Three additional GreenWise Markets are expected to open this year, the company said.
