Rite Aid Foundation names recipient of Kidchamp Award

5/18/2018
CAMP HILL, Pa. — The Rite Aid Foundation announced on Friday that Cathryn Tames, executive director of the Children’s Developmental Center in Richland, Wash., has been awarded its Kidchamp Award for her work over the past 30 years to support children with disabilities and developmental challenges.

In recognition of her service, Tames will receive a $10,000 donation to the Children’s Developmental Center and $500 in Rite Aid gift cards to continue advancing its work to improve the health and well-being of children served by the organization.

“Cathryn has been working for more than three decades to help children faced with a disability or challenge reach their full potential,” said Bryan Everett, chief operating officer of Rite Aid Stores and member of The Rite Aid Foundation board of directors. “Her unwavering dedication to improve early learning experiences has had a dramatic impact on the lives of so many children and families in the Tri-Cities area, making her most deserving of our Kidchamp award.”

The Rite Aid Foundation created the Kidchamp award in 2017 to recognize individuals in communities served by Rite Aid that have made a meaningful difference in the lives of youth by advocating for their health and well-being, championing education and academic growth and creating a safe environment for children and teens to live and grow. Tames is the third recipient to receive the award.

The Children’s Developmental Center, which is a neuro-developmental center, provides services to young children with disabilities and challenges in Benton and Franklin Counties. The facility also provides services to children within the Autism Spectrum and an Incontinence Program.

“I am honored to receive the Kidchamp award from The Rite Aid Foundation and thank them for recognizing the tremendous strides we are making at the Children’s Developmental Center,” said Tames. “All children are gifted. I remain steadfast and committed to advancing our center’s mission of helping every child achieve success in school and in life.”
