Southeastern Grocers, parent company of BI-LO, Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie grocery stores, is partnering with the American Heart Association and other companies across the country to participate in the AHA’s fundraising campaign; Life Is Why We Give.
“Southeastern Grocers is committed to being a people-first company our associates, customers and communities can always count on. We care passionately about the health and wellbeing of all those we serve, and are proudly partnering with the AHA to help build healthier lives, free of stroke and heart diseases,” Southeastern Grocers executive vice president and chief people officer Elizabeth Thompson said.
Now through May 5, BI-LO, Harveys and Winn-Dixie customers can help support the AHA by donating at the register. Each dollar raised will help pave the way for the next generation of advancements in preventing heart disease and stroke.
“We are so excited that Southeastern Grocers is participating in our Life is Why We Give campaign. This campaign not only helps us raise awareness on heart-healthy living but also allows us to raise funds critical for research, education and prevention programs to create a world of longer and healthier lives,” AHA-First Coast executive director Amber Wilson said.
Southeastern Grocers hopes to empower customers to take control of their own health and encourage healthy habits in others by increasing the awareness of heart disease and stroke, the No. 1 and No. 5 killers of Americans, according to the AHA.
The grocer plans to share stories of survival and facts about heart disease and stroke, and encourages customers to learn their numbers with a free blood pressure reading in all BI-LO, Harveys and Winn-Dixie pharmacies.
