Stop & Shop celebrates new store opening

12/14/2018
Fresh off the heels of unveiling its store remodels, Stop & Shop announced the opening of a new location in Newton Highlands, Mass.

The new 20,950-sq-ft. location, opening Dec. 14, will be the first in the state to feature the store’s new logo and updated design, the Quincy, Mass.-based retailer said.

"We are excited to share our new store with the Newton community, and proud to show the local community our new offerings that are centered around making grocery shopping more convenient for our customers," Stacy Wiggins, senior vice president of operations for Stop & Shop, said. "We know our customers' needs are evolving, and we're continuing to improve our shopping experience accordingly."

As part of the grand opening celebration, Stop & Shop will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony and host community-focused events throughout the weekend that include family-friendly entertainment and food sampling.

The new store will include:

  • Focus on Fresh’s full assortment of produce with more organic and locally sourced options;

  • New in-store experiences that allow shoppers to choose from a selection of such slow-cooked meats as brisket and baby back ribs, and create and bottle their own olive oil and vinegar blends in January;

  • More grab and go options as a full-service deli, fresh salad bar and made in-store sushi;

  • Mobile payment and technology as the Scan It! Mobile app that helps shoppers save time; and

  • Curbside pickup, which has deliveries placed through Peapod, delivered straight to shoppers’ cars.
