Target’s supply chain engineering and activation team is undergoing a bit of a shakeup.
The Minneapolis-based retailer announced that Gemma Kubat would be taking over as the department’s new senior vice president.
In this new role, Kubat will lead the design, activation and ongoing management of assets departments that support Target’s global supply chain and logistics network, the company said.
“We're bringing together stores, digital channels, technology and supply chain to make shopping at Target even easier and more convenient,” Arthur Valdez, Target’s executive vice president and chief supply chain officer, said. “Gemma's talent for applying advanced solutions across large organizations is exactly the right fit for Target as we continue transforming our supply chain to meet the needs of our guests.”
Kubat was previously the vice president of global business service for Walmart, and has experience in the human resources, finance, innovation, strategy and logistics departments.
“Success in today's retail environment requires a supply chain that's both cost-effective and nimble to provide a convenient shopping experience,” Kubat said. “I'm excited to join the Target team and be a part of its differentiated approach that is leading the industry in fulfillment options for guests.”
Prior to her role at Walmart, Kubat worked for British supermarket chain Asda, which
Walmart previously sold to J Sainsbury in a deal valued at about $10 billion. Kubat's appointment is effective August 6, the company said.
